Book Review: On the Chase by Katie Ruggle

Laugh out loud funny, “On the Chase” is arguably Katie Ruggle’s best romantic thriller to date! Don’t worry, her signature fast-paced plot continues to raise your pulse. But, expect to laugh aloud a lot also.

Ruggle demonstrated her wicked sense of humor in “Gone Too Deep,” but in “On the Chase” she has gone full throttle to the point that I had to stop reading at times to wipe tears from my eyes. The exchanges between Hugh and Kaylee a.k.a. Grace are so hilarious I just cannot stop giggling.

Still, this is romantic suspense, so there are so many plot twists and hair-raising scenes. Gripping – that’s the adjective that sums it all up.

Mixing comedy and drama for this thriller, Katie Ruggle showed mastery of her craft. She kept her light touch all throughout. As she brought her readers from scene to scene, Ruggle kept a tight storyline. She never lost a thread and tied them all up at the end while opening a new one for the next book.

A must-read! If you are going to read only one book this fall, then “On the Chase” should be it. The book is Rated M for Mature due to violence and sexual content.

Because Hugh is tall, dark…and nothing but trouble.

Hugh is anxious to get back in the field after an act of heroism left him warming the bench.
Until then, he and his K9 partner Lexi spend their hours teasing the town’s mysterious newcomer. But when their simmering attraction is nearly cut short by a sniper’s bullet, Hugh’s mystery woman must come clean about the secrets she keeps…
