Book Review: Jude Outlaw by Jan Springer

Rating:

Apocalyptic Future
4 Stars

In a post apocalyptic earth, men outnumbered women 5 is to 1. It is also a future where women had lost their rights and once again treated as property. This is the world where Cate Callahan and Jude Outlaw, who had been lovers since they were teens had to live in. Finding a HEA for themselves will be a challenge.

***SPOILER ALERT***

An erotica novella, “Jude Outlaw” is the first book on “Outlaw Lovers”, which I would presume will be at least three books because there are three Outlaw brothers. And early on the book, there are three Callahan sisters who are all in love with an Outlaw.

The premise of the book is good, a virus killed about 80% of the women population, and among those who survived, there are those who were truly immune and those who had to take a drug everyday to live and counteract the effect of the virus.

In a situation like this, 4 men have to share one woman for implied reasons. Hence, a HEA for the protagonists is truly a challenge. And even if they found a HEA, what about the rest of the world?

As an erotica novella, I would have given the book 5 stars. The protagonists are oozing with sex appeal and the sex scenes sizzles. But, as a post-apocalyptic novel, the author did not offer any resolution to the problem. And that earned the book 3 stars.

Perhaps the next books will solve the moral dilemma. Being optimistic, I am giving the book 4 stars, which is my final rating.

Rated M for Mature due to sexual content
