Book Review: A Soldier’s Wish by Tammy Godfrey

A Soldier's WishFreedom is not free. And the first ones to pay the price are the military men and women stationed all over the world to keep America safe. So, when I was deciding which story to feature for Christmas day, “A Soldier’s Wish ” by Tammy Godfrey was my first choice and nothing even came close.

The story of Sergeant Melody Finnegan and First Sergeant Jason Stewart, “A Soldier’s Wish ” brings readers to war torn Afghanistan then to the beautiful North Carolina and finally home to upstate New York.

It’s a love story in several folds. First, it’s the romance between Melody and Jason. Then, there is the unbreakable bond between Jason and his daughter Sky which spilled into a blossoming friendship between Melody and Sky. There is also the familial love among the Stewarts and the Finnegans.

But, there is also conflict and jealousy from the expected venom of Jason’s ex-wife and the unexpected ones that Melody and Jason did not even see coming.

For the synopsis of the story, the Description below is very succinct. Anything more will be a spoiler. But, what was not said and the one that made this story truly an enjoyable read is a glimpse of the military life. Author Tammy Godfrey captured it perfectly. The hierarchy in the military from Officers to the Non-commissioned Officer where First Sergeant Jason Stewart as an E-8 is “Top”, the principal NCO and lifeblood of the company.

Then, there are also the military wives, who are in two camps: (1)those who has a tendency to wear their husband’s ranks which are frowned upon by many and (2) the military wives who understands they are civilians and has no rank in the military at all.

And finally, for readers who love steamy and erotic scenes, this story has it in spades.

A Soldier’s Wish (A Soldier For All Seasons Book 1)” is Rated M for Mature due to sexual content.
