Book Review: Steelheart (The Reckoners) by Brandon Sanderson

steelheart by brandon sanderson3The Start of Another Great Series

I don’t know exactly when and how I discovered Brandon Sanderson. Whether it was via The Wheel of Time series or in one of his early books. One thing I’m sure of though I’ve always like his voice as a writer. When the hero hurts, they hurt. And though at times the hero might have superpowers, their humanity shines through.

For Steelheart (The Reckoners), David, the main character is as human and as fragile as a normal human. He has to fight super humans called Epics to survive. And to do that, he has to use wit and cunning.

The story is a variation of the David and Goliath story. What makes it very interesting and fun to read is how an orphan like David survived and adapted in the steel jungle called Newcago.

You will cheer David, even call him an idiot at times. But David is lovable because of his humanity and his ability to love even in a post apocalyptic world.

Rated PG 13 due to violence. There are no sex scenes in this book
