Book Review: This is Falling by Ginger Scott

this is fallingThis is the first time that I’m reviewing an audiobook and this is also the first time that I did not read the book but just listened to it. Though I’ve been listening to audiobooks for some time, I have always read the book first. I use audiobooks to re-read. With “This Is Falling ,” I jumped right into it.

A story that has been ripped from the headlines, “This Is Falling ” is the story of Rowe Stanton, an eyewitness to a tragic event. Though the news had covered the event, the public never really look into how the victims, their families and everyone involved coped with that tragedy.

In “This Is Falling ,” author Ginger Scott, via first person account, through the eyes of 18-year-old Rowe Stanton told the story.

It is a coming of age story; it is also a love story; but most of all, “This is Falling” is a story of courage. I will not give a synopsis because the description below will do it for you. This story will tug at your heartstrings. You will fall in love with Rowe and Nate plus the supporting cast.

For the reader Melissa Moran, it was like listening to an all-star cast recording. Moran gave unique voices to each character. And she was also able to emote what they were feeling. It is hard to remember at times that someone is reading the book for you.

This Is Falling (The Falling Series) (Volume 1)” is Rated M for Mature due to violence and sexual content.

Description:

First, I had to remember how to breathe. Then, I had to learn how to survive. Two years, three months and 16 days had passed since I was the Rowe Stanton from before, since tragedy stole my youth and my heart went along with it.

When I left for college, I put 1,000 miles between my future and my past. I’d made a choice – I was going to cross back to the other side, to live with the living. I just didn’t know how.

And then I met Nate Preeter.

An All-American baseball player, Nate wasn’t supposed to notice a ghost-of-a-girl like me. But he did. He shouldn’t want to know my name. But he did. And when he learned my secret and saw the scars it left behind, he was supposed to run. But he didn’t.

My heart was dead, and I was never supposed to belong to anyone. But Nate Preeter had me feeling, and he made me want to be his. He showed me everything I was missing.

And then he showed me how to fall.
