Book Review: Walker, Bad Boys of X-Ops Book 1

walker x-ops book 1The blurb for Rie Warren’s new series, “Bad Boys of X-Ops” says it all: Spinning off from the two #1 bestselling Amazon series—Carolina Bad Boys and Bad Boys of Retribution MC, headliners in Erotica Humor, Thrillers, and Suspense—come more deliciously dangerous, scandalously sexy stories, a whole new level of hotness starting with Walker.

Walker, just one name, and the members of the Retribution MC do not know whether it is his last name or first name. But, quite frankly, we don’t really need to know because no one misses Walker unless he wants to go unnoticed.

A tall Native American with long hair who walks with a swagger and exudes uber self confidence, Walker is a frequent visitor at Mt. Pleasant, home of the Retribution MC. But, Walker is currently not in Mt. Pleasant. In fact, he is not even in America. He is way off in the Middle East and getting ready for a HAHO jump.

That is how Rie Warren began Walker’s story – running high on adrenaline and highly explosive! And the high energy will not let up until the end. In Walker, Rie takes her readers to a wild rollercoaster ride so full of excitement that when you reach the final page, you actually let out a long exhale as if you had been holding your breath the whole time.

This is Rie Warren at her best as she returns to her roots of ass-kicking, video-game worthy characters and stories. If you read her “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” series, then you already know what I mean. Still, though I loved that series, after reading “Walker,” I realized just how much Rie had become more adept in making a scene come alive.

Told in Walker’s POV, the reader becomes him and lives the story through him. You hurt when Walker hurts; you smile when Walker smiles and you fall in love with Walker falls in love.

I am not going to give a synopsis of the story. The description below already says it best. I am going to say one thing though, “Walker” just blew me away, no pun intended.

Walker (Bad Boys of X-Ops Book 1)” is Rated M for Mature due to violence and sexual content.

Description

Explosives are Walker’s specialty, but he’s never handled anything as combustible as his enemy, Jade Huntington.

WALKER

Goddammit. All I want to do is blow shit up. Is that too much to ask? But, no. What I get is mission frigging impossible in the middle of a Beirut hotbed. I’m the renegade of Operation T-Zone, but this time I swear I’m gonna do things by the book. That is, until Jade Huntington’s involvement in my op causes a brand new snafu.

My tribal name means desperate warrior, and that’s exactly what I am for reasons I can’t outrun. And Jade? She’s personal enemy number one. An incredibly sexy one at that. But she’ll never find out just how desperate I am for her.

JADE

I’m not an assassin, even though I am badass. I’m a protector. Except when it comes to Walker. What I wouldn’t give to bore a bullet through his stubborn skull. We’ve been at each other’s throats for years, this time I’m determined to leave him in the dust after I shoot a few holes in him.

We’re forced to work together when Walker practically kidnaps me and my package: the woman I’m guarding, the target he’s assigned to take out.

Days on the run. Nights of enforced closeness. Fighting side by side. Ever-present danger ignites a desire I can’t control. But the endgame is so perilous Walker and I might not make it out alive.
