Book Review: Warrior (The Cat Star Chronicles) by Cheryl Brooks

Rating:

The Cat Got Your Tongue
5 Stars

The second installment of the Cat Star Chronicles brings us Tisana, a witch and Leo, a warrior. And like most warriors, he is a man of few words. He seldoms speaks in this book and thus the epitome of “strong and silent” type.

So, why did I give the book 5 stars?

It’s because Cheryl Brooks (the author) voice is loud and strong. She wrote Tisana to be funny and very independent in a world where women were second class citizens and witches are lower than women in the eyes of their society. Tisana’s planet reminded me earth’s medieval period and also the U.S. before 1863 when slavery was still legal.

For Cheryl Brooks to put these two different eras in one place is quite a feat for an author.

As far as the storyline goes – it’s funny and sweet. Tisana and Leo are lovable. They are so different from Cat and Jacinth (the protagonists in Book 1). So, if you are following the Cat Star Chronicles, you will really appreciate Cheryl Brooks’ characterization. She fleshes out the characters nicely and thus giving you a nice read.

Rated M for Mature due to sexual content
