Book Review: A Kept Woman by Daryl Devore

Rating:

Pretty Woman for the 2010s

A different take of the iconic “Pretty Woman” storyline, “A Kept Woman” is the story of business tycoon and billionaire Derek Davenport and Arianne, an out-of-work children’s books illustrator whom Derek hired as a once-a-week sexual companion.

It was all business in the beginning, but both Arianne and Derek felt stirrings of love which both tried very hard to avoid and stop to no avail.

Since this is romantic erotica, a happy ending is a given. What makes this story standout is the matter-of-fact, very contemporary and very believable attitude of the hero and heroine. The dialogue is also great, which by the way is the reason why readers stay with the book until the end. Both Arianne and Derek are not predictible as protagonists. They always have a surprise up their sleeves until the end.

This is definitely an erotica story and the sex scenes sizzles. But, since it was all written in context, it is not salacious.

Rated M for Mature due to sexual content
