Books & Bubbly 2: Running the Risk by Lea Griffith & the Venetian Mule

When author Emma Chase interviewed book narrator Sebastian York, he casually mentioned that he has a bit of wine or beer when he is preparing to record a book. “I really just try to have as much fun doing it as possible,” York added. ‘

And he is right! Reading is fun and should be fun all the time! So, why not a bit of bubbly while reading “Running the Risk” by Lea Griffith. Our choice pairing for this book is the Venetian Mule, a fresh spin on the famous Moscow Mule, which, legend has it, was created in New York in the 1940s.

Before we give you the recipe provided by our friends from Riondo, let’s take a close look at Judd and Ella, lead characters of “Running the Risk.”

With the first three chapters of the book giving readers an adrenaline rush, it was obvious that “Running the Risk” is a thriller. The surprising part is that it is also a romance, though Jude had to watch Ella, the love of his life, die in the early part of the book.

But, like Lazarus, Ella came back from the dead. And this is when Jude and Ella’s love was tested. This is also the time when even as a reader, I am questioning if the “good guys” are actually doing all these things for flag and country or are they being manipulated by a puppet master.

There are so many plot twists and unexpected turns in the book, sometimes it is hard to keep up. But, the love between Jude and Ella always shone through. So, yes, this is a romance and all the action are backdrop for an extraordinary love!

Don’t get me wrong, if you like action, you will enjoy this book, too. Just don’t get queasy when you get to the romantic parts. Believe me, it’s worth it.
