In Dallas, The Plaza Welcomes New Art Installation by Michelle O’Michael

trust-sculpture01The Plaza at Preston Center, located at the southeast corner of Preston Road and Northwest Highway in Dallas, TX, unveiled an installation by Houston-based artist Michelle O’Michael. O’Michael is well-known for her calligraphy in the round that symbolize life cycles.

Fully installed on Sunday, September 11 in the driving circle at the heart of The Plaza, Trust is inspired by The Plaza itself– the triad of relationships between The Plaza, vendors and customers.

“It’s about unity, collaborative and cooperative services,” states O’Michael. “With Trust, each element apparently moves separately yet supports each other. Each sculptural element represents a torso symbolizing the vendors, customers and the trust that is integral to the daily activity of The Plaza. Located in the central point of the plaza, it celebrates the unity of the customers’ satisfaction and the stores’ success. The arched directionality of the bent obelisks represents the expansiveness of all our activities and the demands of our lives with which The Plaza helps, enhances and serves.”

Trust, 2016, will be on view at the driving circle at The Plaza which was recently renovated by Good, Fulton + Farrell Architecture Firm lead by Jeff Good. The 39 ft. tall yellow sculpture was installed by Glenn Adams with Unified Fine Arts.

“The Plaza is constantly evolving with wonderful shops and some of the best dining choices in Dallas,” adds Mike Geisler, partner Venture Commercial Real Estate, who handles the leasing and management for The Plaza. “We are always looking to improve the experience our customer has, and we feel that this sculpture adds a strong statement to the experience.”

This is the artist’s seventh public installation in the Dallas area which includes Downtown Dallas’s El Centro Community College and Baylor Scott & White Hospital as well as numerous locations around Texas and the US.
